Finished Mount Care
Here is a few things to keep in mind once you get your trophy back from the taxidermist, although generally taxidermy should be fairly maintenance free. A few things to consider would be to make sure it isn't exposed to humidity extremes (very dry, very damp) for example, mounts that are hung above a hot stove or furnace, in a very damp basement, or outside environment will deteriorate much sooner than if displayed in a normal indoors environment. Taxidermy is somewhat like wood furniture in this regard.
As far as cleaning goes, there is several cleaning kits specifically for taxidermy available, generally a dusting cloth or such works fine. You can lightly dampen it with water or mild cleaner of choice, just don't soak it, although we finish and seal our mounts there is always the risk that too much moisture could rehydrate the skin and cause movement and cracking. Detailed habitat scenes can be a bit of a challenge to clean, blowing air with a vacuum, hair dryer or other will help remove dust.
